Stroke has a new indicator !

I URGE ALL MY FRIENDS TO READ & SHARE THIS; YOU COULD SAVE A LOVED ONES LIFE BY KNOWING THIS SIMPLE INFORMATION!!!

Stroke has a new indicator! They say if you forward this to ten people, you stand a chance of saving one life. Will you send this along? Blood Clots/Stroke - They Now Have a Fourth Indicator, the Tongue:

During a BBQ, a woman stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) ...she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Jane went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.

Jane's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 PM Jane passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Jane would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this.

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.
>>RECOGNIZING A STROKE<<

Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR. Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S *Ask the individual to SMILE.

T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)
(i.e. Chicken Soup)

R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue. If the tongue is

'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this post share it to ur frnds ; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

I have done my part. Will you?

Second Trimester Pregnancy Symptoms

Increased belly size – The belly size is quite noticeable at this stage and you are long past the stage when you needed to tell people about your condition. Uterus has expanded to give room to the growing baby.

Braxton Hicks Contractions – Tightening of the uterus at this stage is referred to Braxton Hicks Contractions. It happens for around 30 to 60 seconds.

Stretch marks – These are generally believed to occur after pregnancy but start to show at this stage. These could occur in the buttocks, breasts, abdomen and upper part of arms. The stretch marks are nearly always accompanied by itching at the area where the skin is stretched.

Skin changes - You will notice changes in skin colour. Certain areas of your may become darker. Particularly the skin around the nipples and the line running from the navel to the pubic bone becomes darker.

Sensitivity to sun – Some women complain of their skin having become sensitive to the intensity of the sun.

Vaginal discharge – White and thin vaginal discharge can be noticed in the second pregnancy trimester. Such a discharge is important from the point of view of maintaining the health of the foetus and the expecting mother as the acidic discharge is helpful in suppressing the harmful bacteria.

Shortness of breath – You are likely to face the problem of shortness of breath. This is due to the fact that your lungs start to process more air because oxygen needs to be carried to the placenta.

As your pregnancy has reached the second trimester stage, you need to be extra cautious in maintaining your health. Moreover, it is the time when you can enjoy your condition as the pregnancy glow comes over to your face and managing your weight becomes easier. This does not mean you can slacken with regards to taking care but certainly begin to enjoy your blessedness of being pregnant. It is important that you continue with your general routine of pregnancy as it was before but make sure that whatever changes recommended by your health care provider is being followed by you.

Causes of Irregular Periods

Periods can be really hard to deal with. What with the cramps, the PMS and everything else besides! But when they become irregular, they can get even harder to deal with. In order to be able to understand and treat irregular periods, one must understand the underlying body chemistry that can cause them.

Early on in your reproductive years, irregular periods are nothing to worry about. The body sometimes takes a few years for the hormones to control the changes in your body and to reach a balance in your regular menstrual cycle

Closer to menopause too, you may experience irregular periods. This too is completely normal. During this time the menstrual cycle changes, eventually ending in the ceasing of periods altogether.

Pregnancy is another cause for irregular periods. If you miss a few, you may want to take that home pregnancy test.

Emotional stress too can cause the hormones in your body to alter, causing your periods to become irregular. To avoid severe emotional stress, try practicing meditation or yoga, or consult a mental heath professional.

Certain uterine abnormalities such as cervical polyps, uterine fibroids and endometriosis (endometriosis symptoms) also lead to irregular periods.

Sometimes sudden and significant weight gain or loss can cause your periods to become irregular or skipped.

Eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia can also be a cause of irregular periods.

Consuming excessive alcohol can also disturb your hormonal metabolism, resulting in irregular periods.

What to do When suffer a heart attack ?

What to do When suffer a heart attack ?

Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and whom begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.

However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest.

A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.

Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital. Tell as many other people as possible about this. It could save their lives !!!

First Symptom of Pregnancy

The first symptom of pregnancy is not the same in all women. You should be able to identify your first sign of pregnancy as then, you can prepare for it better. Ensuring a healthy baby is not an easy task and the sooner you start making changes in your lifestyle, the more chances of being successful in it. The difficulty in ascertaining certain symptoms as those of pregnancy is that they can be very similar to those of menstruation or some medical condition. You should know the distinctive symptoms of early pregnancy to differentiate it from menstruation or any disorder.

Possible First Symptom of Pregnancy

Given below are some symptoms that may be your first sign of being pregnant:

Implantation Pain – It is one of the earliest detectable sign of pregnancy. When the fertilized egg gets implanted in the uterus, pools of blood are formed as it moves through the mother’s blood vessels. This process can cause pain or cramping. It can happen a few days up to two weeks after ovulation.

    Tender or swollen breasts.
    Nausea, feeling dizzy or vomiting.
    Mood swings.
    Increased basal body temperature.

Missed period – This is the most common first observed pregnancy symptom. Women can and they should try to know about it beforehand. The symptoms given above can be observed even before the obvious sign of missed period. It is easier for women sensitive to the changes in their body to notice the changes.

Any of these early pregnancy symptoms can be experienced from 2 weeks after conception up to 16 weeks. Many women do not experience these after 12 weeks. It is very important that you do not confuse symptoms of pregnancy with those of PMS because many of them can feel similar. Headaches, backaches, stomach cramps and vaginal bleeding occur during early part of pregnancy as well as due to menstruation.

The implantation bleeding is red or pinkish in colour while menstrual bleeding is dark red. Tender breasts during early pregnancy are much more intense than when caused by PMS. Similarly, the fatigue caused by PMS is not as intense or uncomfortable as that caused by pregnancy. Missed period can be caused by irregularity of menstrual cycle and you need to test for pregnancy after it. A missed period accompanied by intense tender breasts, nausea and fatigue indicate early pregnancy and you can be fairly certain if such is the case. Get yourself tested immediately if you experience these symptoms.

Problems after a Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment is given to treat the infection caused by untreated cavity. After root canal treatment, most patients do not develop any complications, but some may face problems after this treatment such as pain post root canal treatment, swelling and fractured tooth etc. Read to learn the complications post root canal treatment.

Pain post the treatment
Following conditions cause pain after root canal treatment:

•    Severely swollen tooth
If the tissue of the tooth is severely inflamed, regular anaesthesia may not be enough. The acidic effect of inflammation lowers the effect of anaesthesia that is pH sensitive. In such cases, increased dose of anaesthesia is to be given if the nerve of the infected tooth is still in action. Pain post root canal treatment can be as painful as pain before it.

•    Gas pressure
Gas pressure builds up after the dentist has removed the infected nerve from the tooth, but canals and pulp chamber have to be filled. During this time, the dentist uses a temporary filling to fill the tooth interior until the canal is filled. With reduced environmental pressure, volume of air in the interior of tooth increases. Air expands through the root tips thereby, exerting pressure on the surrounding tissues causing pain. A mild analgesic is adequate for providing temporary pain relief. Temporary filling has to be removed for treating the pain more effectively if analgesics have no result.

•    Grinding And Clenching of Teeth
Grinding and clenching teeth (bruxism) is another reason for severe pain while getting a root canal treatment or after its completion. The pain is much more in the case of traumatic occlusion of the treated tooth. When one clenches the pressure moves towards the already inflamed periodontal ligaments and bone around the treated tooth tips. This gives rise to discomfort and root canal pain. Stopping the habit of grinding and clenching the teeth for sometime will relieve you from root canal pain.

Swelling after Root Canal Treatment

Another complication that can occur after root canal treatment is swelling of the area around the treated tooth. Usually, anti-inflammatory medicines are prescribed to reduce inflammation after root canal treatment. Swelling could be because of faulty method of root canal or re-infection of the treated tooth. For effective treatment of swelling, its real cause must be diagnosed.

Fracture of the Tooth

It is recommended that after the root canal treatment, the patient go for crowning of the tooth. After root canal, the infected tooth becomes brittle and is prone to fracture. The crowning of that tooth will save its natural structure. It strengthens the weak tooth and conceals the discoloration that has resulted by the root canal treatment.
